Salt Dough Creations

Salt dough is so versatile you can use it in lots of craft projects, kids love to make it & create with it. I like making batches up for the kids so they can use it in lots of ways it’s great for creating jewellery, making magnets, keepsakes, model making & the list goes on.  You can paint, glitter, decorate & varnish salt dough just like clay, you can also add food colouring & make it into batches which you can keep in a sealed container/bag in the fridge.

The recipe is simple all you need is plain flour, salt & water. The recipe below will make quite a large batch but you can make it smaller just keep to the same ratio.

INGREDIENTS

Flour 12 oz

salt 6 oz

water 6 fl oz

EQUIPMENT

Mixing bowl
Measuring jug
Rolling pin
Heart shaped pastry cutters
Baking tray
Cooling rack
acrylic paint
PVA glue, paintbrushes
Clear varnish,
Magnets

once you have completed your salt dough creations you can either leave them to air dry over a few days or pop them in the oven on gas mark 3 this can take around 1.5 – 2 hours. They will need to be cooled before you paint & decorate them.
